Jamie Ewing served in the U.S. Army for five and a half years before being discharged for being transgender in November of 2013. She currently works with the Army as a defense contractor at Fort Gordon, GA in her respected field of forensics. While enlisted in the Army, Jamie supported both OEF/OIF operations.
As a contractor Jamie works directly with active duty service members supporting real time defense efforts as an out trans woman. She has had a unique opportunity to transition while serving in the Army and brings a unique skill set with her experiences. She has navigated through various units, branches of the military and the DoD while a tackling a variety of trans related issues both as a service member and as a civilian.
