Congratulations to President Elect Biden and Vice President Elect Harris

The Transgender American Veterans Association (TAVA) congratulates President Elect Joe Biden and Vice President Elect Kamala Harris.

We urge the new administration, as we have urged the current administration, to immediately reverse discriminatory policies against military service by qualified transgender Americans and in medical treatment for transgender service members and Veterans.

The American principles of justice and fairness, demand that transgender people, like all others, be judged on their demonstrated ability. For over 240 years, transgender patriots have served in America’s armed forces, and have done so with distinction. Those who had the opportunity to socially transition to their inherent gender during the previous administration have proven that their open service contributes to mission success and that they remain fit to fight during gender transition.

TAVA looks forward to working with administration officials and members of Congress by advising them on inclusive, fair and commonsense policies for transgender service members and Veterans that will reflect American values of merit and fairness and will strengthen our national security by recruiting and retaining the best, regardless of gender identity.
