For Immediate Release:
Chicago, IL. – March 29, 2015. From a frenzied crowd, broadcast live on the Internet, the Trans 100 list was read with much anticipation. TAVA National President Evan Young was honored on the Trans 100 list of 2015.
“I am deeply humbled that the organizations that I represent, TAVA, ArTEC, and SPART*A get the recognition that they deserve. It is not just me that is honored tonight. It is my team on all fronts that deserve the credit as well.” said TAVA National President Evan Young.
The Trans 100 honoree list is provides a broad and diverse look into the trans community, not to impose labels or provoke arguments over language and definitions. As such, anyone who self-identifies as trans – whatever that word means to them – are eligible for inclusion on The Trans 100. The list places special consideration on those working in the areas of ostracism elimination, stigma reduction, poverty reduction, furthering the social and economic development of the trans community, and building infrastructure within the trans community. The Trans 100 highlights exceptional work done by and for trans people, promote those who may not otherwise receive recognition, and increase positive visibility for the trans community as a whole. About TAVA: Transgender American Veterans Association (TAVA) is an organization that serves transgender veterans by actively advocating directly with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) on multiple issues that are unique to veterans that are transgender. TAVA has liaisons within the VA that can directly assist in matters that may otherwise take immense time and effort to solve. Not only does TAVA work with the VA, but we also work with other local transgender organizations so that transgender veterans have support in their own community. TAVA provides comradeship for transgender veterans. TAVA is your voice that will be heard when no one will listen to you.
